Generals Begin Road Trip With Victory in the Sunshine

The F.C. Fredericksburg Generals first road trip of the season started with a clash against the ACES of Charleston in South Carolina. A 2:00pm kickoff on the outdoor arena field under sunny skies and 72 degree weather provided the perfect backdrop as the Generals beat the ACES 14-4. The Generals got off to a quick start as Colin Vint scored his first goal of the season to put the team up 1-0 in the fourth minute. The Generals raced out to a 3-0 lead before Charleston snuck on their first on the board. At the end of the first quarter, it was F.C. Fredericksburg leading 4-1. The second quarter provided much of the same as the Generals were able extended their lead to 7-2 at the halftime intermission. Forward Tommy Park scored all three second quarter goals.

The Generals continued to push the pace in the second half. Two goals by forward Steven Rupp and two more from Colin Vint iced the game as the Generals cruised to a 14-4 victory on the road. Brian Shumate was stellar in goal allowing only 4 goals in 51 minutes of action and Joe Young finished the game off allowing no goals in the final 9 minutes of play.

Eric Dutt, Dan Hinkley, and Steven Wolfe each had a goal and an assist. Kelvin Jones and Brion Kelly also scored for the Generals. Francisco Campagnani had two goals and an assist while Johnnie Keen and Oscar Villegas rounded out the scoring for the ACES of Charleston.

The win moves F.C. Fredericksburg to the top of the table with a 2-0-0 record and drops Charleston to 1-1-0.
