F.C. Fredericksburg Generals vs. Performance FC
Generals Open PASL Account With Win
The F.C. Fredericksburg Generals opened their inaugural season of play in the
Premier Arena Soccer League with a bang. The Generals scored early and often to
defeat Performance FC from Greenville, SC, 10-3 at the Fredericksburg Fieldhouse
on Saturday, December 9th. The crowd of around 500 spectators watched as team
captain Kelvin Jones scored the first goal in franchise history just over 3
minutes into the match to put the Generals up 1-0. Four more first quarter goals
propelled F.C. Fredericksburg to a 5-0 advantage at the end of one. Superb play
from goalkeeper Brian Shumate kept Performance FC off the board in the first
half and the attack score 3 more time in the second quarter to extend the lead
at halftime 8-0.
Performance FC got on the board with two quick goals after halftime to cut the
score to 8-2. Brian Anderson then scored for the Generals to increase the lead
to 9-2 and that was how the 3rd quarter ended. The fourth quarter was even as
both teams notched one goal apiece. The final score was 10-3 in favor of the
Generals.
Tommy Park and Brian Anderson led the way with 2 goals, while Kelvin Jones had a
goal and two assists. Aaron Plummer, Eric Dutt, Dan Hinkley, Glenn Gray were the
other goal scorers for the Generals. An own goal was also credited to
Performance FC. Brian Shumate led the way in goal with unbelievable saves
throughout the evening.
Jorge Atehortua, Matthew Lucas, and Tim Mittman scored for Performance FC.
Andrew Barth was in goal.
The Generals hit the road for two games next Saturday. They will face ACES of
Charleston at 2:00pm and then travel to Savannah to play the Savannah Supergoose
at 8:00pm.
The PASL is the nation’s largest indoor soccer league. With 41 teams in 8
divisions across the United States, the PASL is considered one of the highest
levels of indoor soccer in the country. Please come out and support your F.C.
